Chamabora's features page states one rule as its core principle: no one confirms their own money. Every financial entry, whether a contribution, a loan repayment or an expense, requires two separate officials, and the person who records a transaction cannot be the one who confirms it. The flow is three steps: a member or official reports an M-Pesa payment, a different official reviews and confirms it, and the balance updates and a receipt is issued automatically.
The same page describes the rest of the controls. Members get sequential membership numbers that are never reused and are invited by single-use links that expire. Four roles, chairperson, treasurer, secretary and member, each see exactly what they should, a member's contact details are visible only to officials, holding an office requires a verified email address, and a group always keeps at least one chairperson.
Beyond contributions, the product covers loans worked out with proper repayment schedules, an expenses cashbook, meetings and governance records, and reports and transparency, with corrections leaving a trail and reports ready to table at the annual general meeting. Chamabora states that it never holds a group's money. It is a venture of Mycrea Technologies LTD, the parent company of Kijiji News.
