According to Capital FM, Kenya has set a goal to lower cataract-related vision impairment among people aged 50 and above from approximately 8 percent to 2.5 percent by 2045.

The plan involves performing 9 million cataract surgeries over the period, the broadcaster reported.

The initiative targets older Kenyans who are particularly affected by cataracts, a condition that clouds the eye's lens and can lead to vision loss if untreated.
