Chamabora is a record-keeping app for Kenya's chamas and investment groups. According to its website, it replaces the WhatsApp thread and the paper ledger with a single transparent record of contributions, loans, expenses and meetings, with every member given their own login so they can check the figures for themselves.
The company says the product is built around financial integrity: every shilling is accounted for, two people confirm every figure, loans and repayment schedules are worked out properly rather than from memory, corrections leave a trail, and reports are ready to table at the annual general meeting. Chamabora states that it never holds a group's money.
The service is free for every group until 30 April 2027, with no card required to set up a chama. Chamabora is a venture of Mycrea Technologies LTD, the parent company of Kijiji News.
